Purpose

As a translator, it is your duty to do your best to make sure that each Bible passage you translate has the meaning that the writer of that Bible passage intended it to communicate. Translation Words (tW) is a resource to assist translators to understand the meaning of the words used in the unfoldingWord Literal Text (ULT). tW contains entries for all words that are theologically important or that might be difficult to translate. Translation teams will be able to study terms with their definitions to decide what word, or words, in their language will communicate the same idea. source: translationAcademy

How to Use in Translation

Preparing to draft a passage of Scripture: Translators must study and prepare to draft a passage into their language. Look here ‣ for information on preparing. One of the resources to help increase translators’ understanding of the passage is tW. The team will read all words that connect to the passage they want to translate.

Checking a translation in tCore: Translators will internally check their drafts in translationCore to determine if their translation is accurate. Look here Partner Checking FG for information on team checking. ‣ is a slide deck to guide translators in using tW for checking.
