For many people, this process takes decades to accomplish. But what if churches could translate the Bible for themselves instead of having to wait for foreigners to help them? This set of lessons is designed to teach those who are fluent in a language of wider communication how to enable minority language speakers to translate the Bible for themselves.

Churches need each other! The church loves quality Bible translation. Their most effective partners in developing quality translations are other churches in their area who have already done Bible translation. If you are one of these churches, we want to help you minister more effectively to language groups in your area who do not yet have the word of God. How can you help? You may already be doing some of the things in this list:

• Pray for those involved in Bible translation
• Disciple and encourage believers who speak the language
• Create translation resources in your language that they can use
• Train minority language translators
• If you are a respected leader in your area, help sponsor and validate the work that is done

We recommend **First Encounters** as an approach that integrates discipleship and prayer with training in Bible translation.
